Discipleship

Christian faith develops at different paces for each of us. Although we would like for our growth to happen in a predictable, straight line of progress, we all know that sometimes the route is circuitous and bumpy! Everyone is in a different place in their journey, which is why it is so important to walk along with others. At DBC, we strive to grow from where we are, to learn from each other, and to support and encourage each other along the way.

In addition to classes on Sundays, we have seasonal studies, women’s Bible studies during the week, and a men’s prayer breakfast on the first Wednesday of each month. Our hope is that the Sunday School and small group opportunities at Derbyshire will help you find a community where you can grow in Christ.

Isaac Class

Rooms 105-109

The name Isaac means “laughter,” and this intergenerational class does a lot of that as we interpret scripture and wrestle with how to apply it to 21st century living. We range in age from 30-70, which allows us to share decades of wisdom about spiritual, professional, and family life. This class is heavily discussion-based. LeJeanna Raymond facilitates the conversation, using Formations material from Smyth and Helwys.

Seekers Class

Room 159

This is a warm and welcoming class where members feel safe and confident in sharing their trials, challenges, and tribulations. Kenny Paciocco teaches using scriptures and topics relevant to life events of the prior week. The Seekers genuinely love and care for one another and endeavor for this class to be a special place to gather, share, and worship Jesus Christ.

Footprints Class

Room 114

Pam Paciocco & Jerry Parr lead this class with material from the quarterly Smyth-Helwys material. Group members endeavor to live biblically and encourage each other in the Lord.

New Visions Class

Room 112

Service-oriented and ready to learn, this class is involved in projects at Derbyshire and in our community, while also engaging in deep study and discussion of the Bible and Christian literature. Discussions are guided by rotating members.

Koinonia Class

Room 122

A close-knit group, this class was founded in 1975 and enjoys welcoming new members. The Koinonia class studies the Bible with the help of Foundation Adult Bible Study lesson material. Led by Carl Brown and group leaders.

Gathering Class

Room 133 (Conference Room)

Anna Moxley teaches this Bible study based on the Nurturing Faith curriculum. This small group values fellowship, discussion, and examining various interpretations of Scripture.
