Dr. Raymond is a graduate of Furman University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Dr. Raymond has a Master of Divinity degree from The Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond and was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in June 1998 by his home church– First Baptist Church, Orangeburg, South Carolina. He later attended The Virginia Theological Seminary where he received his Doctor of Ministry degree. Dr. Raymond is married to LeJeanna Maddox Raymond, an English Professor at an area college and also an ordained minister, and they have two daughters, Pender and Paxton. Dr. Raymond comes to Derbyshire from First Baptist Church, Hopewell where he has been pastor for six years. Before First Baptist Church Hopewell, Dr. Raymond was at Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church in Roxboro, N.C. for six years.

Billy, a native Virginian, was in sales and management with Armour & Company before entering the ministry. He completed his college work at Columbia International University and the University of South Carolina. He received his Master of Divinity Degree and Master of Arts in Religious Education Degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. On September 1, 1982, Rev. Billy Davis became Associate Pastor for Education and Administration at Derbyshire Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, where he served for thirteen years before joining the Richmond Baptist Association staff November 1, 1995. Prior to working at Derbyshire, Billy served as Minister of Education/Administration in the First Baptist Church of Greenville, Mississippi, then Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hopewell, Virginia. Billy has led numerous Sunday School and Discipleship Training Conferences in Mississippi and Virginia. He was a state-approved Adult worker for the Mississippi Baptist Convention Sunday School Department, and continues this same ministry in Virginia as a Senior Adult Conference Leader. Billy is married to the former Linda M. Connor of Portsmouth, Virginia. They have two married adult children, Barry and Susan, plus three grandchildren. Linda is retired from the International Mission Board having served 18 years as the Administrative Assistant to the vice-president and four years in the medical services area.

David Schwoebel is Minister of Music / Composer in Residence at Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond Virginia. He is a graduate of McKendree College in Lebanon, IL and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Voice and Organ Performance, and a Master of Church Music with an emphasis in Composition. Prior to beginning his ministry at Derbyshire in January 1997, he had served churches in his hometown of Belleville, IL, Montgomery AL, and Atlanta, GA. As an ordained minister, David administrates and oversees a comprehensive music ministry of six choral organizations, four handbell choirs, and a 32-piece orchestra. His energetic, hands-on approach to ministry finds him working each week with people of all ages, encouraging and equipping them to discover and develop their varied musical talents and skills. The MICHELLE hymn tune included in the 1991 Baptist Hymnal is named for David’s wife, Michelle. The BRITTANY, ASHLEY and COURTNEY hymn tunes, named for their three daughters, and the ROSE MARY, HENDRICKS AVENUE, as well as an arrangement of IRBY hymn tunes, are included in the Celebrating Grace Hymnal. The tunes, COURTNEY and ROSE MARY are also included in Glory to God: The Presbyterian Hymnal.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Merchandising and an Associates of Art degree in Retailing from Virginia Intermont in Bristol, Virginia. Julie’s early background was in business. She was a merchandise buyer for the department store Belk and she even owned her own children’s specialty store, The Sand Box, in Wilmington, NC for five years. When Julie moved to Richmond she decided to work part-time and was offered a job as a church secretary. She has since made it a full-time career, sharing her experience with several churches before coming to Derbyshire in May of 2006 to be the Office Manager. Julie is a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and is the proud parent of Whitney and Hunter Hoffman. Her favorite leisure activities include spending time with her family and friends, playing with her dog, shopping, working in the yard, watching basketball games, and visiting her daughter in Raleigh.

Born and raised in South Boston, VA, Christine "Chris" Overbey came to Richmond in 1956 as a young wife, and she and her late husband Frank became charter members of Derbyshire Baptist Church. They raised two children, Roslyn and Frank, through whom they have three grandsons. Chris holds the record for working at Derbyshire Baptist for the longest period of time, ministering to the members of this church since 1981. During that time, she has done several jobs. She has been church secretary, helped with the financial postings, and been church receptionist. She is the resource person who knows the most about members past and present, and she is a wealth of knowledge on church history. She will likely be the first contact you will have at Derbyshire, greeting you warmly over the phone, or with a smiling face when you walk in the door.
